Gallery ladies seek new members

Women golfers of all skill levels are invited to join the fun with the Gallery Ladies Golf Association.

There will be a meeting and coffee at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, in Duffer’s Deli at the Gallery Golf Course in Oak Harbor.

Mike Fields, club pro, will give golf tips and discuss a starter program for beginners. The association starts play on Tuesday, April 7.

Adult sailing lessons offered

Beginning adult sailing lessons will be offered on six consecutive Tuesday evenings starting April 21, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Oak Harbor Marina as part of the Oak Harbor Youth Sailing program.

Participants, ages 16 and older, will learn how to sail on 14-foot Lido sailboats. They will also learn basics of rigging the boat, steering techniques, sailing rules, trimming sails, racing rules and boating safety.

The cost of the six week session is $150 and $12 for the sailing textbook which can be purchased at the first class session.

Registration is on a first come, first served basis. Interested adults can register by sending a check to OHYS, PO Box 2876, Oak Harbor, WA 98277. Register for Central Whidbey Little League

Your last chance to register for Central Whidbey Little League baseball, softball, and T-ball will be noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 15, at the Pizza Factory in Coupeville.

Tryouts for late registrations will be held on March 18, 3:30 p.m. at Rhododendron Park for ages 9 to 11.

Fly fishing anglers meet

At 6:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, March 11, the Whidbey Island Fly Fishing Club is proud to present Jim Anderson’s program on fishing British Columbia lakes at the Race Road firehouse south of Coupeville.

Anderson is a private contractor on South Whidbey, whose many new constructions and remodels show the quality of his work and his artistic ability.

His talk will cover where and how to bring the big ones to hand and he will also show his no-fail flies.

If you want to learn about fishing British Columbia lakes, don’t miss this meeting.

The meeting is open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend.

Dodgeball tournament March 14 and 15

Northwest Training Academy is hosting a two day dodgeball tournament Saturday and Sunday, March 14 and 15, at Oak Harbor Elementary School as a fundraiser for players in the North Whidbey Soccer Academy.

The cost to participate in the tournament is $35 per player.

Teams may have up to 10 players, with six players on the court at the beginning of the game.

Each match will consist of one 20 minute continuous clock period and teams will play as many games as possible during that time period.

The team with the most wins at the end of playing time wins the match.

Teams are guaranteed a minimum of three 20 minute sessions.

Tournament organizers will divide the teams into adult and children’s (fourth grade and above) brackets.

Soccer meeting March 17

Central Whidbey Soccer Club is having their annual general meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at Windemere, 5 South Main St., in Coupeville.

The club invites the general public to attend the meeting, share ideas or join the volunteers of CWSC.

Right now, the club needs volunteers ranging from an equipment manager, coaches, members at large and board members.
