Competing against some of the best teams in the state, the Oak Harbor swim team placed 11th out of 33 schools at the Kentridge Invitational Saturday, Jan. 9.
The Wildcats scored 153 points; Mercer Island won the meet with 831.5 points.
While the Wildcats finished 11th, the Western Conference displayed its power in swimming with four teams finishing in the top 10. Kamiak earned second, Shorewood seventh, Marysville-Pilchuck ninth and Lake Stevens 10th.
Price Hu nabbed Oak Harbor’s highest individual finish by placing sixth in the 100-yard butterfly in :55.39.
The Wildcats grabbed three 11th places: Hu in the 200 individual medley (2:05.43); Jacob Jepsen in the 100 backstroke (:58.32); and the 200 medley relay team of Jepsen, Yale Rosen, Hu and Matt Bolte (1:46.37).
The other top finishes in each event for Oak Harbor included the following:
200 freestyle relay: 12. Rosen, Josh Jepsen, Bolte, Jacob Jepson, 1:36.19.
100 breaststroke: 12. Rosen, 1:04.95.
200 free: 18. Josh Jepsen, 1:56.63.
500 free: 23. Cole Weinstein, 5:34.85.
100 free: 25. Bolte, :53.
400 free relay: 29. Hu, Brandon Vagt, Weinstein, Josh Jepsen, 3:45.27.
The Wildcats, who are undefeated in dual meets, return to league action Wednesday, Jan. 13, at 6 p.m. when Cascade comes to John Vanderzicht Memorial pool.
