Oak Harbor’s swim team received little resistance from host Lynnwood and Meadowdale Wednesday.
The Wildcats took the double daul meet by racing past the Royals 134-34 and the Mavericks 129-40.
Oak Harbor recorded the fastest times in 10 of 11 races.
Devin Schell (200-yard freestyle, 2:01.18; 500 free, 5:42.57) and Brandon Vagt (100 butterfly, 1:00.14; 100 breaststroke, 1:09.54) each collected two individual wins.
Schell also swam on the winning 400 relay with Matt Bolte, Prince Hu and Jacob Jepsen (3:45.38).
Besides taking part in the 400 relay win, Jepsen won the 100 backstroke (1:00.56) and swam on two other winning relays. He combined with Yale Rosen, Hu and Josh Jepson to win the 200 medley relay (1:48.17); and Rosen, Bolte and Josh Jepson to take the 200 free relay (1:41.36).
Hu was the winner in the 200 individual medley (2:06.91), and John Kaltenbach took the 100 free (1:02.87).
Cole Weistein’s 50 free time of 27.06 was good for first against Lynnwood and second against Meadowdale.
Coach Amy Nurvic said, “I was really pleased. Everyone swam well and tried hard.”
She added she “was able to get some of the newer guys in” some of the varsity races and they responded well.
David Kusnick, Corey Butler, Tyler Buchanan, Jaxon Wolfe, Steven Martinez and Adam Smith, according to Nurvic, have never competed for the high school or club teams in past and scored varsity points in the meet.
