The Shorewood High School soccer team defeated Oak Harbor 3-0 Tuesday, April 12, at Shoreline Stadium to remain a half game out of first place in the Western Conference.

The Thunderbirds (5-1, 7-1-2) won their fifth straight match and sit one game back in the loss column to Glacier Peak (5-0, 6-3).

Shorewood is tied with Marysville-Pilchuck (5-1, 8-1-1), Oak Harbor’s next opponent. The Wildcats host the Tomahawks at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 15.

Oak Harbor (2-3, 3-5-1) slipped to seventh in the conference standings with loss.

“We played them much better than the score shows,” coach Kevin Thompson said. “We were missing some key players and had to move others around to fill in. Josh Coe did a really good job in the defensive position where we were missing two starters.

“It was a hard-fought battle and Shorewood had a better day than we did.”
