Shorewood held off a late surge by the Oak Harbor High School soccer team to escape with a 2-1 win at Wildcat Memorial Stadium Thursday, Oct. 22.
The Thunderbirds (5-6, 7-8) hit a long-range shot in the first half and then added another goal off a corner kick in the second half to go up 2-0.
Suzanne Kaltenbach scored a late goal for the Wildcats off a corner kick.
“We put on a late charge in the last 10 minutes,” Oak Harbor coach Mike Lonborg said. “The girls worked hard and played hard the entire game. No complaints on effort, just not enough firepower.”
Oak Harbor finishes the season with two 7:30 p.m. matches next week.
The Wildcats (0-10, 3-10-1) go to Lynnwood (3-6-1, 3-10-1) Monday, Oct. 26, and then host Everett (0-8-2, 1-11-2) Wednesday, Oct. 28.
