A pair of Shorewood pitchers limited the Oak Harbor High School softball team to one hit as the Thunderbirds defeated the Wildcats 3-0 Saturday, May 7, at Shoreline’s Meridian Park.

Kendall Adams tossed the first five innings and Bonnie Paulson the final two to blank Oak Harbor; they combined to strike out 10 Wildcats.

Oak Harbor pitcher Tricia Sarns also threw a good game, giving up only five hits and striking out nine.

The Thunderbirds, however, were able to bunch four of those hits and a walk in the fifth inning to score their three runs.

Audrey Howard recorded Oak Harbor’s lone hit in the third inning. Sarns also walked and Lyndsay Duchnowski was hit by a pitch to load the bases with one out in the inning, but Oak Harbor couldn’t push home a run.

The Wildcats also put their first to batters aboard in the third and sixth innings.

Oak Harbor (3-5, 5-13) hosts Marysville-Pilchuck (11-3, 13-4) at 4 p.m. Monday, May 9.
