Thanks in a large part to Sydney Taggart, the Everett High School softball team defeated visiting Oak Harbor 14-1 in five innings Tuesday, May 6.

Taggart pitched a no-hitter and struck out eight; at the plate, she went 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs and seven RBI.

The Seagulls (6-4, 7-10) set the tone early by scoring 10 runs in the first inning.

Oak Harbor scored in the fourth inning when Natalie Fiallos walked, stole second, went to third on a ground out and scored on a passed ball.

Oak Harbor (1-8, 2-14) hosts Marysville Getchell (5-4, 7-9) at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 8, and Stanwood (4-6, 5-12) at 4 p.m. Friday, May 9.
