A day after losing 6-1 at Shorewood, the Oak Harbor tennis team returned the favor and tripped up the visiting Thunderbirds 4-3 Thursday, May 5.
The fourth-place Wildcats (8-6, 7-5) grabbed wins in three of the four singles matches to knock Shorewood (11-4, 11-2) out of a share of first place with Everett.
Belen Cifuentes won in second singles 6-3, 6-3.
After getting blanked in the first set 0-6, Clarissa Abadesco came back to take the next two 6-2, 6-3 in third singles.
Jordan Faralan was a 6-4, 6-4 winner in fourth singles.
The second doubles team of Jennifer Bowers and Shoko Yamaguchi won 6-1, 6-4.
Cody O’Dell lost to defending district champion Mackenzie Bang 2-6, 3-6 in first singles.
Alexa Holmly and Shannon Neilon were edged 6-4, 4-6, 3-6 in first doubles; and Jennifer Fremd and Molly Van Dam lost in third doubles 3-6, 2-6.
Oak Harbor travels to Shorecrest (9-6, 8-5) Friday, May 6, and then hosts Glacier Peak (4-9, 4-7) Saturday, May 7.
