Junior Josiah Miller and seniors Allison Duvenez and Adrianna Royal all earned medals for Oak Harbor High School at the state 3A track championships at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma May 26, 27 and 28.
Miller picked up two medals. He was fifth in the 200 in 22.43 and sixth in the triple jump in 43-02.5. Running into a strong headwind, he was seventh in his heat and 15th overall in the 100 in 11.5.
The third time was the charm for Duvenez, who placed fifth in the 300 hurdles in 46.15. She qualified for the 4A state meet in the event her freshman and sophomore years but did not place; she was injured last spring.
Royal raced to sixth in the 800 in 2:17.01. She also placed 12th in the 1,600 in 5:11.87.
The Wildcats sent three relay teams to state, but none qualified among the top eight to reach the finals.
The girls 4×200 team of Sarah Young, Christina Alexander, Jalani Bobo and Janessa Ramos placed sixth in its heat and 14th overall in 1:49.58.
Duvenez joined Alexander, Maura McKole and Christina Wicker to place fifth their 4×400 heat and 11th overall in 4:07.17.
Miller, Carlton Johnson, Conner Meyer and Chris Opdyke were fourth in their heat in the boys 4×400 in 3:31.17, good for 10th overall.
Ramos placed eighth in her flight and 17th overall in the long jump in 14-10.
Janelle Yoshimoto was eighth in her flight and 16th overall in the javelin in 95-06
