Tungate qualifies for Junior National swim meet

Olivia Tungate, a sophomore at Oak Harbor High School, will compete in the USA Swimming Junior National Championship Dec. 9-12.

Olivia Tungate, a sophomore at Oak Harbor High School, will compete in the USA Swimming Junior National Championship Dec. 9-12.

Tungate, 15, is one of only nine swimmers from the Pacific Northwest Region to earn a spot in the meet.

She qualified for four individual events: the 100 and 200 backstrokes and butterflies. Tungate will also swim on four King Aquatic Club relay teams.

The Junior Nationals features the fastest swimmers in the country under 18 years old.
