The team of Eric McCardle, Jason Norton, Phil Reedy, Ron Kaser and Gene Whitley captured the 5-Man Best Ball Tournament at Whidbey Golf and Country July 24 and 25.
The tournament, sponsored by the club and Frontier Building Supply, is the biggest team event at WG&CC each year. McCardle also won the County Club’s top individual event, the Whidbey Invitational, last May.
The winning five posted a score of 377, five better than Terry Armstrong, Bob Sutton, Todd Melnick, Andy Bullington and Morgan McGowan.
Finishing third were Jeff Brown, Mike Nelson, Mike Deland, Darick Brewer and Andy Iverson at 385.
Rob Treece, Lenny Cohn, Jerry Harrison, Steve Kelly and Mike Fulcher finished fourth at 388.
Three teams tied for fifth at 390: Gene Cushway, Pat Ford, Gary Van Cleve, Dan Shea and Bill Shea; Sean Hall, Mike Seek, Todd Pederson, Dirk Curtis and Brett Curtis; and Lenny Thompson, Leo Munoz, Chris Chambers, Jerry Gregor and Jim Green.
In eighth at 391 were Scott Wells, Ken Shewfelt, Rod Anderson, Jay Snyder and Gary Baungard.
Three teams scored 392 to tie for ninth: Arik Dahlen, Robert Tercero, Matt Holmly, Michael Widel and Willie Sprague; Chris Robinson, Todd Robinson, Lee Whittles, Brent Knudson and Jim Boyle; and Ron Coleman, Bill VanCleef, Lei Kahupahi, Greg Jiran and Tom Sundown.
