Finding its home course to its liking, the Oak Harbor High School girls cross country team won a four-team meet at Windjammer Park Thursday, Sept. 22; the Wildcat boys placed third.
The 3A Wildcats finished first with 36 points in the girls race against three 4A schools, followed by Kamiak (43), Monroe (64) and Cascade (94).
Kamiak (25) won the boys race ahead of Cascade (55), Oak Harbor (65) and Monroe (80).
Oak Harbor heads to Seaside, Ore., Saturday for the Three Course Challenge, then goes to Lake Stevens with Edmonds-Woodway, Everett and Glacier Peak Thursday, Sept. 29, at 3:45 p.m.
Christina Wicker led the girls by placing second in the 4,500 meter race in 17:27, six seconds behind Monroe’s Megan Bull.
Oak Harbor had three other runners in the top 10: Alexandra Laiblin, sixth, 18:37; Hannah Bressler, eighth, 18:44; and Heather Dale, 10th, 19:05.
In the boys race, Matt Reith (15:29), John Rodeheffer (15:32) and Joshua Schrum (15:37) went 8-9-10. Kamiak’s Ryan Bradford won in 14:58.
Oak Harbor dominated the JV boys race won by Stephen Miller (16:53) by grabbing the top eight spots. There was no JV girls race.
