Wildcat swim team runs record to 6-0

The Oak Harbor swim and dive team upped its record to 6-0 with a double-dual meet win over Snohomish and Glacier Peak here Monday, Dec. 14.

The Oak Harbor swim and dive team upped its record to 6-0 with a double-dual meet win over Snohomish and Glacier Peak here Monday, Dec. 14.

The Wildcats beat Glacier Peak 136-40 and Snohomish 121-64. Snohomish defeated Peak 98-73.

The Wildcats won all three relays: 200-meter medley, Jacob Jepsen, Josh Jepsen, Price Hu, Matt Bolte, 2:00.33; 200 freestyle, Bolte, Josh Jepsen, Cole Weinstein, Jacob Jepsen, 1:50.36; 400 free, Devin Schell, Weinstein, Ben Cardinal, Hu, 4:14.34.

In the 200 free relay, anchor Jacob Jepsen came from behind to nip Snohomish.

Hu met a state qualifying time while winning the 200 individual medley in 2:18.86.

Bolte added two individual wins (50 free, 26.71; 100 free, 59.1); and Josh Jepsen (100 breaststroke, 1:14.67), Jacob Jepsen (400 free, 4:32.16), and Cardinal (100 backstroke, 1:14.09) each nabbed one.

It was Cardinal’s first varsity win.

Brandon Vagt dropped nearly four seconds (1:04.69) off his personal best in the 100 butterfly while finishing second to defending state champion Garren Riechel of Snohomish (1:02.93).
