Wildcat United finished second to Anacortes by two points in a six-team middle school cross country meet in Mount Vernon Thursday, Oct. 3.
Anacortes edged Wildcat United, a combined team from Oak Harbor and North Whidbey middle schools, 181-183.
The best individual effort of the day for Wildcat United came from Jillian Pape, who finished second in the eighth-grade girls race in 10:22. Wildcat United also grabbed the next three spots behind Pape and six of the top 10.
The best showing by the boys came in the eighth-grade race. Led by Ryan Vasileff (9:12), Wildcat United runners finished third through sixth.
