Meadowdale recorded six of the top nine scores to capture a four-team boys golf match at the Whidbey Golf Club Tuesday, March 29.

Oak Harbor finished third with 511 strokes, trailing Meadowdale (411) and Mountlake Terrace (475). Marysville Getchell placed fourth with 557.

Oak Harbor’s Haven Brown shot a 39 on the back nine to finish with an 82, good for second in the race for medalist honors. The Wildcats’ next best finish was Nick Whitley, who tied for 13th with a 103.

Mountlake Terrace’s Michael Jenson led the field with a seven-over 79.

Meadowdale golfers finished third, fourth, fifth, seventh, eighth and nine.

Others competing for Oak Harbor were Caleb Brookshier (104), Mathew Boyd (108), Joshua Margraf (114) and Rheeno Kwak (133).

“The team had a tough day despite great weather and the course being in great shape,” coach David Smith said. “Haven bounced back and had a great back nine with a 39 after a little rough start on the front. I think the rest of the team just needs more experience playing 18 holes of tournament golf.”

Oak Harbor and the Wesco North schools begin conference action when they meet at Stanwood’s Kayak Point Golf Course at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 12.
