Picking up its first shutout of the season, the Oak Harbor High School tennis team thumped visiting Marysville-Pilchuck 7-0 Wednesday, April 29.
The win helped lift Oak Harbor (4-3, 5-7) within a game of second-place Everett (5-2, 8-4) in the Wesco North standings.
The Wildcats won all but one match against Marysville-Pilchuck in straight sets. Earlier this year Oak Harbor squeaked by the Tomahawks 4-3.
Wednesday’s results:
Singles: 1, Makenzie Perry won 6-2, 6-2; 2, AnnaBelle Whitefoot won 6-3, 6-1; 3, Tamia Rios won 6-2, 6-1; 4, Alyssa Eden won 6-1, 6-2.
Doubles: 1, Hannah Gluth/Ellysa Bonganay won 6-1, 6-2; 2, Patrice Woodworth/Ria Bains won 6-4, 6-2; 3, Erina Horikawa/Lauren Aspery won 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.
Oak Harbor faces first-place Stanwood (7-0, 9-2) at home at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 30, in a makeup of Tuesday’s rainout. Stanwood nipped the Wildcats 4-3 April 14.
