The Oak Harbor Legion baseball team had its chances but couldn’t punch across any runs in a 9-0 non-league loss to visiting Mount Vernon Monday, June 30.

Oak Harbor collected only four hits (two by Trent Benson and one each by Kevyn Johnson and Clay Doughty) in the game but received six walks and three hit batters. Three of the hits led off innings, but the Wildcats stranded 10 runners.

Oak Harbor (15-10) struck out 10 times, six times with runners in scoring position.

Oak Harbor and Mount Vernon meet again at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at Mount Vernon’s Sherman Anderson Field.
