A rush of late goals helped Mountlake Terrace break open a close match in the Hawks’ 6-0 win over the Oak Harbor High School soccer team at Edmonds Stadium Tuesday, May 1.
The contest was the final match of the season for Oak Harbor (0-12, 0-15-1).
“For 60 minutes we played great and the score was 2-0, and we had a couple of chances to score,” Oak Harbor coach Jeff Laiblin said. “After that, they wore us down; we gave up three bad goals.”
The highlight of the night was a stretch when Laiblin played all underclassmen.
“We held them 0-0 and had a great scoring opportunity,” he said. “We are sad to lose three wonderful seniors, but we look forward to a strong future.”
Fifteen of the 18 varsity members return next year for the Wildcats.
