The Wildcat Sailing team opens the 2016 season by hosting the North Regional Regatta at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, March 5, at the Oak Harbor Marina.

Over 80 sailors and 19 boats will compete in the regatta, which should last until about 5 p.m.

Sailing will take place directly off the breakwater of the marina.

“(There will be) good viewing from the breakwater itself or Pioneer Way between Regatta and Midway,” Wildcat coach Erik Mann said. “Bayshore Drive and Flintstone Park would be other great options.”

The North Regional will feature teams from Seattle, Everett, Bellingham, Anacortes, Orcas Island, Friday Harbor and Oak Harbor.

The South Regional will run concurrently in Silverdale.

The top half of the teams from both regionals will square off next weekend, March 12 and 13, in Seattle.
