Everett finally got its offense on track, the Oak Harbor High School girls basketball team never did and the visiting Seagulls escaped with a 41-27 win Friday, Jan. 22.

The win allowed Everett (2-3, 5-11) to take sole possession of fourth place in the Wesco North; Oak Harbor (1-4, 5-10) dropped to fifth.

Both teams struggled to put numbers in the scorebook in the first half.

Oak Harbor mustered only four free throws from Rashanna Graham in the first quarter and trailed 8-4.

Four points from Julie Jansen and two foul shots by Bryn Langrock gave the Wildcats a 10-8 lead midway through the second period.

Oak Harbor wouldn’t score again in the half as the Seagulls finished with a 6-0 run to lead 14-10.

Three minutes into the second half, the Wildcats still trailed by four, 18-14, then the Seagulls’ offense finally took off as they zipped to a 30-18 lead.

Oak Harbor trimmed the margin to seven, 31-24, on a basket by Janae Payne with 4:51 left in the game but would get no closer.

Jansen, Langrock and Deja Bunch each scored six points for Oak Harbor. Graham had five, Payne three and AnnaBelle Whitefoot one.

Sydney Taggart topped Everett with 10.

Oak Harbor hosts Stanwood (4-1, 10-4) at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27.
