Despite a big night by Jasmine Ford, the Oak Harbor High School girls basketball team was overwhelmed in Stanwood 73-28 Tuesday, Jan. 15.
Ford scored 17 of the Wildcats’ 28 points; no other Oak Harbor player tallied more than 3 in the game.
The Spartans (6-3, 9-6) raced to a 17-8 first-quarter lead and played add-on from there, leading 38-16 at halftime and 57-25 after three quarters.
Madison Chrisman paced Stanwood with 23 points.
Grace Waite and Sami Olson had 3 each for Oak Harbor, while Sarah Mensah and Anna Jones had 2 and Miranda Wilson 1.
Either Oak Harbor (0-9, 3-12) or Marysville-Pilchuck (0-9, 4-11) will pick up their first conference win Thursday, Jan. 19, when the two teams meet at 7:15 p.m. in Oak Harbor. The Tomahawks defeated the Wildcats 46-44 in a non-league game Dec. 4 in Marysville .
