The Oak Harbor High School boys track team flexed its muscles at the five-team Whidbey Jamboree, which included Coupeville, Thursday, March 15, at Wildcat Memorial Stadium.
The Wildcats boys won 10 of the 14 events, and went 1-2 in five; the Oak Harbor girls grabbed four firsts; and Madison Tisa-McPhee snared Coupeville’s only win in the girls 100-meter hurdles (16.5).
Josiah Miller (100, 10.9; 200, 22.6) and Joshua Schrum (800, 2:02.6; 1,600, 4:50.9) each won two events for the Oak Harbor boys.
Oak Harbor’s Dominique Jackson (shot put, 31-01; discus, 95-05) won twice for the girls.
Mitch Pelroy (second, 100, 11.5; third, 400, 53.3) led the Coupeville boys. Tisa-McPhee joined Anna Bailey, Marissa Etzell and Katherine Smith to get second in the 4×400 relay (4:33.4); and Jai’Lysa Hoskins was second in the 100 (13.3) and third in at the high jump (4-08).
Other Oak Harbor firsts came from Chris Opdyke (400, 52.2), Jeremy Foster (shot, 45-05), Keon Crumpton (discus, 123-09), Chris Hailer (high jump, 6), DeJon Devroe (long jump, 19), Cody Hernkind (triple jump, 39), Christina Wicker (1,600, 5:22,7) and Chylan Bass (triple jump, 29-10).
Stanwood, Lakewood and South Whidbey also took part in the meet; no team scores were kept.
Coupeville goes to Port Angeles 10 a.m. Saturday, March 17, and Oak Harbor travels to Everett Memorial Stadium 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 22, to meet Jackson and Shorewood.
