Wildcats, Wolves tune up at Jamboree | Track

The Oak Harbor and Coupeville high school track teams warmed up for the 2016 season by competing in the Island Jamboree at Wildcat Memorial Stadium Thursday, March 17.

The Oak Harbor and Coupeville high school track teams warmed up for the 2016 season by competing in the Island Jamboree at Wildcat Memorial Stadium Thursday, March 17.

South Whidbey and Lakewood also took part.

Oak Harbor picked up wins from Alana Austin (400, 1:06.3), Kaitlyn Chelberg (100 hurdles, 16.64), Julie Jansen (discus, 98-07), Taliah Black (pole vault, 6-06), Ben Gasper (800, 2:18.23), Jared Gray (110 hurdles, 15.88) and Austin White (shot put, 42-04).

Coupeville collected wins from Makana Stone (800, 2:40.15), Mitchell Carroll (triple jump, 37-03) and Jordan Ford (high jump, 5-06).

Coupeville was the only school to field a team in the 4×100 relays. Lauren Grove, Lindsey Roberts, Stone and Sylvia Hurlburt won in 52.42; while Gabe Eck, Ford, Jacob Martin and Jacob Smith clocked a 47.83.

Oak Harbor and Meadowdale will face host Marysville-Pilchuck at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at Quil Ceda Stadium.

Coupeville competes in the Port Angeles Invitational at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19.
