Warming up for a critical conference clash with Klahowya, the Coupeville High School softball team crushed La Conner 18-3 in five innings Thursday, April 19, on the Braves’ diamond.
The Wolves (1-0, 8-3) host Klahowya (0-1, 5-2) in a game that could decide the Olympic League title at 4 p.m. Friday, April 20. Coupeville won the first meeting of the three-game series March 28. If the Wolves win Friday, they will clinch the series and the league crown. The third game is April 30.

All but one Coupeville starter collected at least one hit and eight players had two or more as the Wolves recorded 20 in the contest.
“We came out swinging and never stopped,” coach Kevin McGranahan said.
Coupeville scored five runs in each of the first two innings to put the game away early.
Chelsea Prescott led the way with three hits, including a grand slam, four runs and five RBI.
Katrina McGranahan and Emma Mathusek also had three hits; McGranahan scored three times.
Scout Smith, Coral Caveness, Sarah Wright, Veronica Crownover and Nicole Laxton each rapped two hits. Smith and Laxton drove in two runs.
MacKenzie Davis singled for the other Coupeville hit.
