The Coupeville High School soccer team clinched at least second place in the 1A Olympic League with a 2-1 win over Chimacum at Mickey Clark Field Thursday, Oct. 22.
The Wolves (3-1, 5-5-3) still have a shot at the conference title with two matches remaining.
Klahowya (4-0, 10-3-1) sits in first. The Eagles and Coupeville meet a 3:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, in Silverdale.
The Wolves close out the regular season at home with Port Townsend (0-4, 0-10-2) at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27.
The win over Chimacum locks up a home match for Coupeville in the first round of the district tournament.
The district tournament begins Thursday, Oct. 29; however Coupeville will not play until Saturday, Oct. 31, if it finishes second or Tuesday, Nov. 3, if it takes first.
Kalia Littlejohn played a role in both Coupeville goals against Chimacum. First she assisted on May Rose’s score, then she punched in a goal off an assist from her sister, Mia Littlejohn.
“We pretty much dominated the match,” coach Troy Cowan said.
“We had a lot of shots on goal,” he said. “Their best player is their goalie, and when you have a solid player in goal, everything needs to be perfect to score.”
