Lakewood and Marysville-Pilchuck swept by the Oak Harbor High School wrestling team in a double-dual meet at Marysville Thursday, Dec. 9.

The Cougars defeated Oak Harbor 45-30 and the Tomahawks won 61-13.

Brandon Stratton (152 pounds) led Oak Harbor with pins in each match, stopping his Lakewood opponent in just 35 seconds and the M-P wrestler in 2:25.

Cody Fakkema also won twice. Wrestling at 125 against Lakewood, he won by a pin (1:15), then at 119 he took the Marysville match 13-1.

Steven Souza (160) pinned his Lakewood foe (4:30) and captured the Marysville match 4-2.

Oak Harbor forfeited the 103 and 215 matches.

Coach Mike Crebbin said, “Guys can’t make weights and we have some injuries.”

He said, “The kids are showing improvement. We are throwing four/five freshmen out there. It’s hard for them when they are going against experienced wrestlers from the biggest school in the state (Marysville).”

The Wildcats take part in the Spud Walley Invitational in Sedro-Woolley Saturday, Dec. 11, at 10 a.m.
