The annual Andy Andrade Little League baseball tournament wraps up this weekend at Windjammer Park.

The yearly festival of youth-league games features teams from several area programs. This spring squads from North, South and Central Whidbey have been joined by clubs from Anacortes and Sedro-Woolley.

Teams that finished third or lower in the regular season standings were invited to take part. The first- and second-place teams met this year in Sedro-Woolley.

Central Whidbey has been the most successful of the local entries this week in the Andrade Tournament and reached the semifinals before losing to Sedro-Woolley #3 8-6 Thursday, June 10.

CW coach Bob Martin said some defensive miscues allowed Sedro-Woolley to break open a close game and take a six-run lead in the fourth inning. Central Whidbey fought back and closed the gap to one but couldn’t overtake the winners.

Central Whidbey now takes on the South Whidbey Rangers at noon Saturday, June 12, for the right to face Sedro-Woolley #3 in the championship series beginning at noon Sunday. The Central Whidbey/South Whidbey winner will have to defeat Sedro-Woolley twice to claim the crown.

Here’s a brief look at some the local teams’ games:

Saturday, June 5

The North Whidbey Mariners fell to the Rangers 7-2 in spite of a triple by Tyler Jackson and doubles from Junior Johnson and Christian Bertram.

Sean Erickson rapped two singles, but his North Whidbey Angels fell to Sedro-Woolley #3 14-1.

Central Whidbey stopped the North Whidbey Red Sox 7-3. Jared Homestadle had a single and triple for the winners, and Zac Donnor doubled for the Sox.
