Oak Harbor AAU hoop team places second
The weekend of Feb. 14 through Feb. 16 was a great step in the right direction for the Oak Harbor girls AAU basketball program.
The eighth grade AAU girls played in the Stanwood President Day Classic, where they finished in second place. The only loss was to an elite team from Eastern Washington in the championship round.
The loss on Monday night was by only 14 points, which was a good effort considering the same elite team beat other teams Oak Harbor’s bracket by 30 to 40 points in every game.
All of the girls stepped up and did a wonderful job in the tournament and they have been working hard for the past three years to get where they are today. A great job was also turned in by the team’s two coaches, head coach William Roberts CMO-10/VQ-2 and assistant Christian Curtain.
